Dedicated to the memory of Tracy Costello

This site is a tribute to Tracy Costello. It includes selected poems and verse (in Journal) along with photos and videos (in Galleries).  Please feel free to contribute to this site with thoughts, photos and memories of Tracy as these would be much appreciated by her family at this time.

Tracy was a wonderful wife and partner to Nick, and proud mother of Frank who will be 13 years old in just a few weeks.  She was also a loyal and caring friend who was much loved, and will always be held close by all in their hearts.

Tracy and Nick were married in Cyprus in 2007, and they chose to settle and build their lives and careers in South London initially, but later moving to East Sussex.

Tracy served as a frontline sergeant in the Metropolitan Police before making a career change to become a much loved and respected Pathways Mentor at East Sussex Coast College.  In this role she supported young people who particularly benefitted from her patient guidance and open mindedness at a time when they most needed it.

Tracy not only loved all creatures great and small, but she formed special connections with the many that she fed, named, cared for and whispered to over the years.

Tracy was passionate runner loving to feel the wind on her face, and she often said she "found her wings" whilst running.

Tracy had many gifts - she was tenacious and determined beyond her deceptively tiny stature, she created beautiful art as well as being the best organiser of cupboards and houses there could be!

Thoughts

How much Tracy means to me is hard to put into words. Although I didn’t really know her for that long it felt like a lifetime. She was such a kind & genuine person and even though she was fighting her own battles she would always be there to whisper words of encouragement & positivity when I needed them. For that I will be forever grateful. I will miss Tracy, I will miss the laughter & the heart to hearts, but I will never forget her or the impact she had on my life Rest easy and thank you❤️

I don't even know where to begin. One day this tiny little lady walked into the Pathways Office, I knew instantly we would be friends. I remember thinking, she is such a little soul with such a big heart, these kids are going to eat her alive!!! How wrong could I have been. Tracy dug deep, dedicated time and energy and a lot of persistence, to build a trust from the students, built their confidence, believed in them so eventually they learnt to believe in themselves. I loved Tracy for her kind, warm and huge loving heart. I loved her for her wise words. I loved her for her selflessness. I love how much she loved her little family and how she spoke about them. I loved how she spent hours talking about Frank and how proud she is of the young man he is turning into, and used to say he is such a beautiful little soul, he is special and I ‘m so lucky 💙 Most of all I admired her for her strength and want to do what she thought was right for her and her family. The little lady you saw before you was someone who had the strength of an Ox, who was feisty, humorous and truly the kindness, most loving human you could want in your life. We often said it to each other, our sadness is that we didn’t meet earlier in life, that we would love to go on long runs and feel the breeze in our hair and chat and put the world to rights. Thank you Tracy for being a true friend to me, for loving and supporting me always and especially when I needed it the most. Your wise words will live with me forever, I certainly will use them when I need to make further decisions in my future. You are and will be so loved and missed. Until we meet again my beautiful friend 💖 Heaven will certainly be a richer place tonight 😇. I love you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sleep tight gorgeous, love forever Lisa M xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Tracy and I bumped into each other more often than we managed to arrange to get together... she’d bellow ‘Vegan Sue!’ which always made me - and everyone else - smile. A rare and special talent for making people feel good about themselves. I’d often be mulling over some life decision... Tracy would just say ‘Do it’. We last hugged a few weeks ago and I’m now starting something I’ve bern putting off for a while! Thanks Tracy, and thanks Nick and Frank for sharing her with the rest of us x
